When the Rolling Stones announced their Bigger Bang world tour that was to kick off in 2005, it was one of the hottest tickets on the planet. Everyone was trying to score a seat. Any seat. To make matters worse. I live in Boston and the Stones were opening the tour right here in Boston's Fenway Park. Ugh. The official tickets "sold out" in moments. The cheapest seats in the upper deck (originally $75 face value) were going for $500 or more with the ticket brokers. I thought I'd pass, but I really wanted to see the Stones. So just for fun I stopped by the Fenway Park box office on the morning of the show. Score! I got front row center at face value. That afternoon I checked a ticket broker site and they wanted $12,000 for a seat like mine (twelve thousand dollars!) Yeah, even face value was expensive (the Stones charged $450 for the best seats).
But you can't beat sitting a few seats in front of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. I could see the individual scratches in Keith's guitar and I could see the setlist scrawled on a panel next to Charlie's drum kit.
